Joice Soares

Joice Soares is a forró teacher and cultural facilitator based in Salvador, Brazil, known for her thoughtful pedagogy, warm presence, and ability to create meaningful learning experiences on and off the dance floor.

Her journey with forró began in 2015 as a student, guided by a deep curiosity and passion for the dance. In 2017, she joined the Forrozeando school, where she developed her training and later took on the role of assistant.

In 2025, she founded Forró Colorido, a project dedicated to inclusive teaching and expanding access to forró. Her work is grounded in the belief that dance is not only a technical practice, but also a space for expression, connection, and recognition. Her methodology integrates technique, musicality, and personal experience, ensuring that each participant feels seen, supported, and empowered in their learning process.

Her work resonates with diverse audiences from beginners to experienced dancers, making her a versatile and valuable addition to festivals, schools, and cultural programs. On the dance floor, her presence mirrors her teaching: light, attentive, and welcoming.

We are really happy to have her at Forró de Tamanco this year!
